Family Fun Day, fishing derby set at Lynn Deming

Annual family event planned for this weekend

NEW MILFORD, Conn. — Families looking for an activity this weekend don’t have far to travel.

The New Milford Parks & Recreation Department will hold its annual Family Fun Day and Fishing Derby May 10 at Lynn Deming Park.

A rain date of May 17 is planned at the park, located at 134 Candlewood Lake Road North.

The free event will be jam-packed with a variety of activities, including a fishing derby, lawn games, corn hole, music, a gaga pit, and food trucks from 6 to 8 p.m.

New Milford residents are invited to purchase pre-season Lynn Deming Park passes during this time as well.

At 8:30 p.m., a screening of “Shrek,” sponsored by Dawn Hough of Coldwell Banker, will be offered.

Registration for the fishing derby, open to children ages 4 to 15, is $5. Attendees should bring their own fishing pole, bait, and bucket. 

Children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Prizes will be awarded.
