Annual GOAT Days to open May 16 in New Milford

Popular festival returns with more offerings

NEW MILFORD, Conn. — The popular New Milford Greatest of All Towns Days (GOAT Days) are back.

The three-day event that draws locals and visitors will be held Friday, May 16, through Sunday, May 18 at Young’s Field.

Around 50 vendors, businesses, and nonprofits will participate in the fair-type event that is geared toward all ages.

GOAT Days is a celebration of the town’s agriculture and small business community and is complemented by entertainment and activities for all ages.

It will offer its traditional offers, including vendor booths, food trucks, music, a carnival, and visits with baby goats. New this year will be tethered hot air balloon rides by Horizon Bound Adventures.

“That’s going to be fun,” said Lisa Agee, co-owner of Goatboy Soaps and whose family organizes GOAT Days.

The event will be open Friday, May 16, from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funds raised will benefit local non-profit organizations chosen by organizers.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome at the entrances.

Demonstrations, entertainment, food, a carnival, bunnies and sheep, and the most popular offering of all, Goatboy Soaps’ goat pen where patrons can pet and take pictures with the goats, will round out the festival.

Nine baby goats will be on site. Agee said “four more mamas” are going to give birth in the coming days “so we’re going to have a bunch of baby goats.”

Some expanded and new offerings are planned, too,

Food trucks are carnival activities will again be offered. And live music from a variety of artists will be performed on the hour, Agee said. “We’ve got a full plate of music, from children’s music to rock bands. All-day music for every day.”
