Volunteers sought for CERT training

NEW MILFORD — Many things need to come together when there is an emergency.
The town of New Milford’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) plays an integral role in preparing for those times of crisis.
CERT volunteers are trained in disaster preparedness, fire safety, basic first aid, light search and rescue, hazards and their impacts, and care for self, family, friends and community.
A training series or individuals interested in becoming a CERT volunteer will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 15-16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays, Oct. 18 and 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The training will take place at CERT headquarters located in the John Pettibone Community Center at 2 Pickett District Road.
