This program is designed to expose individuals interested in playing field hockey by emphasizing fun physical activity! Young athletes will learn the fundamentals of the game while fostering a love for the sport in a fun and supportive environment.
Grades K-5
The program focuses on developing a strong core skill set with an emphasis on repetition and getting quality touches on the ball each session. Training for students includes individual skill work as well as an introduction to basic tactical knowledge of the game such as: footwork, body position, passing/receiving, individual defense, elimination skills, shooting and more.
How do I know if my K-5 grade child is Beginner or Intermediate? If your child participated in the Beginner/Intro to Field Hockey Session we held last year, they should participate in the Intermediate Session this time around.
Grades 6-9
Athletes will be learning more about individual positions and their role in team play. Our goal is to improve skills, tactical knowledge, and athletic ability of our players that prepares them for the higher level of competition at the high school age groups.
Requirements: sneakers, water, mouth guards (optional), shin guards and sticks.
Field Hockey
Guitar Lessons: This class will give students the fun of playing the guitar, and with Musical Associates’ methods, a beginner learns how to play a tune in the very first lesson!
All genres of music will be included as part of the program so that students get a well-rounded artistic experience. The music club will pick up where school music programs leave off, a chance for students to get that extra attention and increased opportunity to perform.
Instruments: K-2 children will need a half sized (30”-34”), nylon-strung acoustic guitar for the program, such as this:

Please retain your receipts in the unfortunate case that the class does not meet our 4 student minimum.

Guitar Lessons
Ballet Princesses
Come and dance to the music of fairy tale princesses while learning the fundamentals of basic ballet and ballet terminology. Parents are invited to stay and watch their "princesses" perform! Feel free to dress up in ballet attire and/or your favorite character, or comfy clothes are ok.
Requirements:A water bottle, ballet shoes are encouraged.

Tikes will have a great time playing with friends in a safe environment designed to promote social, physical, intellectual and creative growth. During this 2 hour class, the children will sing, paint, listen to stories and have gym time, all while learning to respect and share with others, as well as follow directions.

Field Hockey
Men's over 30 pickup basketball league for ages 30 and up. Two hours of fun, competitive, pick-up basketball games for registered players of all skill levels. Each week, our on-site coordinator will organize teams and games.
Requirements: All skills are welcome, please wear sneakers and comfortable clothing.

Art Therapy Support Groups Beginning in April
We are honored to introduce two new ongoing Art Therapy Groups at Village Center for the Arts, beginning this April. For adults 18+
Led by Jessica LaBarca, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, these professionally facilitated groups are designed for adults seeking support while navigating chronic illness or grief.
Art therapy offers a structured and supportive space to explore emotion, strengthen coping tools, and connect with others who understand similar experiences. No art experience is required.
Creating Through Chronic Illness
Begins April 22 | 3rd Wednesdays | 6:30–7:30 PM
Holding Space for Grief
Begins April 29 | 4th Wednesdays | 6:30–7:30 PM
Sessions are $50 each. A brief consultation is required prior to joining.

Art Therapy Support Group
At Deer Pond Farm, our flowering trees and shrubs are rich sources of food and shelter for wildlife. Spring is the perfect time to learn about the diversity of subtle and showy flowers of Connecticut’s trees. Join Lori Lichtenauer, CT Forester, and Diane Nizlek, CT Audubon Naturalist, for this seasonal tree ID walk. Starting in the classroom, Lori and Diane will present how to tell tree species apart in the spring using real field specimens of flowers, seeds, and budding leaves. Then, we will head out onto the main campus trails to see these tree identification markers in the field. All experience levels are welcome. Parents and Tot (Ages 1.5-3.5)
- Our instructor will facilitate parent and child through a variety of obstacle courses designed to develop your child’s motor skills, balance, strength, coordination, and social skills in a safe fun environment. Gymnasts will gain experience with the beam, vault, bars and tumbling on equipment specifically designed to accommodate little bodies. They will bounce on our in ground trampolines, run, swing, climb, work on handstands, cartwheels, rolls and more! The parent’s job is to have fun bonding with their child while guiding them through the obstacles giving them assistance as needed.
- Have your child wear a leotard, unitard or fitted clothing. Please NO buttons, zippers, snaps, hoods or jewelry. Bring a water bottle.
*Parents must be with children during this class
Preschool Class (Ages 3.5-5)
- The focus of this class is to learn the proper shapes and form necessary to perform fundamental gymnastics skills independently. This will develop your child's strength, confidence, motor skills and more. Skill progression will be based on age as well as the progress of each individual gymnast. Since children progress at different rates, stations are set up to accommodate varied abilities. Gymnasts will gain more experience across all 4 events with vault, bars, beam and tumbling all incorporated into a variety of stations and obstacles. Learning to take turns, socializing and being kind to classmates is emphasized for school readiness.
- Have your child wear a leotard, unitard or fitted clothing. Please NO buttons, zippers, snaps, hoods or jewelry. Bring a water bottle.

Tennis Lessons
Learn the fundamentals in this instructional league that plays on Saturday mornings. Soccer takes place at the Sarah Noble Soccer Fields (directly behind Home Depot). Please park to the far right of the parking lot and walk up the stairs to the left.
Every child plays, with emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork and fun. Every child is placed on a team. Want to join in the fun with your child and friends? Parent volunteers are always needed to help run this program!
Requirements: Shin guards, water bottle. Kids are not required to wear cleats and can wear sneakers.
There is a donation bin throughout the season for families to donate gently used cleats or take if there is their child's size in there as well.

Advanced Beginner Crocheting Class
- Come learn in a class designed just for you…an advanced beginner!!
- You will learn 3 ways to begin crocheting "in the round", how to read a yarn label (if you don’t already know how to do this), how to read a crochet pattern, and more!
- Projects include a coaster set as your 1st project and a hat as your ongoing project
- 6 weekly classes, 1.5 hours each
- Requirements: This is NOT a beginner class! You MUST KNOW the basic crochet stitches -- the chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet! Other stitches, including 2 different ways to make a brim on your hat, will be taught
Advanced Beginner Crochet Classes

- You will learn how to knit "in the round" using circular needles, how to knit cables, how to read a yarn label (if you don’t already know how to do this), how to read a knitting pattern, how to fix mistakes, and more!

- All materials and supplies will be provided at the 1st class
- Requirements: This is NOT a beginner class! You MUST KNOW the basic knit stitches -- the knit stitch and the purl stitch – all other stitches and techniques will be taught!

Tennis Lessons
Learn the fundamentals in this instructional league that plays on Saturday mornings. Soccer takes place at the Sarah Noble Soccer Fields (directly behind Home Depot). Please park to the far right of the parking lot and walk up the stairs to the left.
Every child plays, with emphasis on sportsmanship, teamwork and fun. Every child is placed on a team. Want to join in the fun with your child and friends? Parent volunteers are always needed to help run this program!
Requirements: Shin guards, water bottle. Kids are not required to wear cleats and can wear sneakers.
There is a donation bin throughout the season for families to donate gently used cleats or take if there is their child's size in there as well.

This dynamic karate program, conducted by USA Martial Arts instructors, is designed specifically for children 3-4 years of age to learn basic martial arts skills, as well as respect, cooperation, leadership and fitness.

- Projects include a coaster set as your 1st project and a hat as your ongoing project
- 6 weekly classes, 1.5 hours each
- Requirements: This is NOT a beginner class! You MUST KNOW the basic crochet stitches -- the chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet! Other stitches, including 2 different ways to make a brim on your hat, will be taught

Come and dance to the music of fairy tale princesses while learning the fundamentals of basic ballet and ballet terminology. Parents are invited to stay and watch their "princesses" perform! Feel free to dress up in ballet attire and/or your favorite character, or comfy clothes are ok.

Exciting News for New Milford! Guendelsberger Law Offices is thrilled to share that the Connecticut Bar Association’s Lawyers in Libraries program is officially coming to the New Milford Public Library starting September 25!
This program offers free 20-minute consultations with an attorney for non-criminal matters. All sessions are confidential, and Spanish-speaking professionals will be available as needed.
We are so grateful to the Connecticut Bar Association and the New Milford Public Library for making New Milford the first Litchfield County location for this program, and to the Greater New Milford attorneys who have already signed up to volunteer. Their dedication has been essential in bringing this valuable legal support to our community.

Exciting News for New Milford! Guendelsberger Law Offices is thrilled to share that the Connecticut Bar Association’s Lawyers in Libraries program is officially coming to the New Milford Public Library starting September 25!
This program offers free 20-minute consultations with an attorney for non-criminal matters. All sessions are confidential, and Spanish-speaking professionals will be available as needed.
We are so grateful to the Connecticut Bar Association and the New Milford Public Library for making New Milford the first Litchfield County location for this program, and to the Greater New Milford attorneys who have already signed up to volunteer. Their dedication has been essential in bringing this valuable legal support to our community.
New Milford’s sessions will run on the 4th Thursday of each month - just call or email the library to reserve a session in advance. Or click the link to register.
