Village Center for the Arts is proud to announce our upcoming gallery exhibition, The Colors I Carried, featuring the vibrant and expressive acrylic paintings of young artist Kat McKernan.
In this deeply personal body of work, Kat explores the emotional landscapes she navigated during a challenging period of high school. Each canvas offers a glimpse into the therapeutic power of creativity.
“Through these paintings I was able to cope with the troubles of high school,” Kat shares. “Every color was intentional, and every stroke was instinctual. Art has always been a part of my life, and these paintings represent a time where I needed art the most.”
Alongside her painting practice, Kat is currently exploring a range of other artistic mediums, including crochet, embroidery, collage, and creative writing and expanding her creative voice with curiosity and authenticity.
The Colors I Carried will be on view at Village Center for the Arts throughout January. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, January 3rd 6:30-8:00PM to meet the artist and celebrate the unveiling of this meaningful and uplifting collection.
